I’ve been writing Word Savant for over three years now, and when I look back on what I’ve built, I can see how much I’ve grown as a writer.
I started out as a clumsy blogger, who was anxious to put herself out there. Now, I am a creator who finally takes herself seriously. I sit at my desk every day as if it were a regular job, and I love my job.
There’s just one more piece that would make this endeavor legit: monetization.
I have never had ad space on my site, because it’s obnoxious and interferes with the reading experience. I have only ever wanted you to feel like you were reading words on a page, and I have every intention of keeping it that way.
I looked for a simple and unobtrusive way for my readers to support something that they love. Patreon is the perfect model for what I want this site to be.
What is Patreon?
Patreon is a membership model designed for creators. It’s like public radio, but instead of hearing how crappy the world is, you get music, videos, art, or podcasts from your favorite creators. In the case of Word Savant, you’ll receive more awesome writing and art.
Patreon’s model provides a sustainable income for creators while giving fans more of what they love. Even better, it supports creators in creating their best work.
Not only that but when you become a patron you’ll get extra insight into my creative process, resources for becoming a word savant, and access to content that you can only find on Patreon. You’ll get all kinds of goodies that are not offered here on this site.
For the modest pledge of $3/month, you’ll receive:
- Access to patron-only content, including insight into my creative process & content that isn’t shared on the website.
- Ask a Word Savant: patrons can submit any writing related question(s) & I’ll write a blog post about it!
- A shout-out on social media.
- Free download of Making Time Worksheet, a practical guide for you to make more writing time.
What makes this even better? The first 25 patrons will recieve recognition on a First Patron list.
I’m so excited to enter this new frontier of Word Savant. I have big plans for this website, such as creating long-form articles and fiction, and when you become a member, you will be a part of that.
I’m so, so grateful for each and every one of you who reads my work. It’s readers like you who make the hard days worth it and who make it exciting for me to come back to this job every day. Thank you for being on this journey with me.
